Final Reflection

1. My favorite tools in my personal technology toolbox are the image, audio, and video access and manipulation, blogs, and Google tools. I see us using blogs for book studies or follow ups to staff development?

2. I don't have a classroom but I have definitely gained more confidence in using technology through this process and now know where to go to take it even further.

3. An unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised me was when I was at a meeting today and we spent two hours talking about technology, I was not totally lost. I even took notes about new things I could add to my new knowledge base. I could even help others with their understanding a little. THAT WAS A REAL SURPRISE!

Tool 11

We have to make sure that we teach our students how to be safe and careful with these resources.
Direct instruction, modeling, and monitoring of procedures is a must.
Here are three things I found as very important to consider:
Students must:
1. Refrain from giving out personal information that would allow someone to contact them in person
2. Use these resources to learn and express yourself, not to hurt others
3. Care for and treat electronic devices with respect

Tool 10

My favorite is the NASA apps. What a wonderful way of making space real. I could see this really motivating and creating deep learning for all students. I can see how the possibilities can become overwhelming.

I hope to have an iPhone soon. I think it will be one way of helping me keep up with accessing technology in all facets of living and teaching.

Tool 9

This is the first I have heard of being able to produce a how to clip. Jing would be great to help minimize afterschool meetings to share new information with teachers on how to download and use data, make and share lesson plans.... There are so many applications for this.

Skype is a wonderful way to bring field trips into the classroom when budgets for them are gone. I can see kids getting very excited about this.

Tool 8

I would use this video from TeacherTube as an opener to a teacher discussion about setting up and using a classroom for LA instruction. What would you use? What would you change and why? So that even if it is not the perfect classroom for them they can gain a deeper understanding of what their students need.

This classroom video is from SchoolTube and something we could use to teach persuasive writing. I think students would connect with it and have a better understanding of the purpose for this kind of writing.

Tool 7

Ok, this took a bit of time trying to figure out where to put this. It was fun making the Photo Story and it always inspiring to share pictures of special events!

Tool 6

I can see us using wikis in so many ways to enhance learning. It can easily connect to Readers and Writers Workshop.
